Former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama also attended the ceremony to support his friend Biden who was also the vice president during his presidency.
Former President Donald Trump who had refused to concede to Biden's victory in the poll abandoned the swearing-in ceremony and left the White House with his wife to Florida early before the inaugural ceremony started.
After due satisfaction with the security protocol put in place, the ceremony kick-started with the announcement and ushering in of some of the top US dignitaries follows by the President-Elect and his wife Jill.

He also promises to unite the people and be a president for all Americans.
