Kogi state has witnessed another dark day as a group of notorious arm robbers invaded Isanlu branch of First Bank of Nigeria Limited in Yagba East local government area in Kogi state on Thursday the 4th of June, 2020.
According to eyewitnesses, the arm robbers came in two vehicles, they were about seven in numbers, they laid siege on First bank but were unable to gain access into the banking hall, provoked they shot dead several persons including the seven police officers on duty at the bank. They had already invaded and killed some police officers and civilian at the police station opposite the local government headquarter before attacking the bank.
Kogi State police P.R.O William Ayah, confirmed the attacked but said they are yet to ascertain the numbers of casualties, that an investigation is ongoing, he will keep the public updated.
Fisayo Soyombo an investigative Journalist, said, an eyewitness told him that the operation was a replica of the Offa bank robbery of 2018.
According to him "The robbers first went to the station, marched out the civilians and policemen inside it and killed them one after the other.
Then they roamed the town and proceeded to the bank to rob and kill."
